Women of all ethnic groups, religious backgrounds, economic and education are in danger of becoming a victim of sexual violence, and the number continues to increase during these periods of crisis Economic numbers and staggering unemployment.
So what's the answer? What can we do collectively as Americans to stop these heinous crimes from happening? Intimate partner abusers, rapists, serial killers, stalkers and pedophiles are released because their crimes have been reported or were not taken. According to NOW (National Organization for Women), the passage of the Violence Against Women Act has been guaranteed in 1994 and was funded by an unprecedented $ 1.6 billion dollars to resolve issues concerning violence against women. In 2005, was VAWA renewed in 2005, with nearly 4 billion dollars over five years. So with all that money spent on prevention of violence against women, why the number growing epidemic?
The question is not an arbitrary real definitive answer. We can blame our society on how that our family values have fallen to text messaging and video games. We can point the finger at the media for all sex and violence unleashed against us 24 / 7. We can blame the large companies that have caused the dramatic financial crisis of our country for the increased violence due to frustration and anger of losing jobs and houses. We can play the blame game until we're blue in the face, but the fact of the matter is that women should stop of being victims and start to protect themselves against predators. This does not mean that women should begin to run out to the nearest store ammunition and begin to pack a magnum, loaded with 45 bullets and a finger on the trigger ready to shoot anything that comes in two feet. But there are other non-lethal solutions and affordable.
